Any natural person entering or leaving Malta and carrying cash of a value of €10,000 or more shall declare that sum to the competent authorities of Malta. In the event of false, inaccurate or incomplete information, the signatory will be considered not to have fulfilled the above obligation and may be liable to penalties, and have cash seized by Customs authorities under the existing national legislation of Malta.
What you'll get
Authorisation to carry the declared sum of cash.
Incorrect particulars on declaration may lead to Court action. If for any reason missing/incorrect details are provided or identified, application is rejected until all corrections are effected. Following a successful submission, the declarant will receive through the email provided an acknowledgement with a form submission reference number. This submission reference number must be presented to Customs at point of entry into/exit from Malta, for Customs to retrieve the corresponding declaration, verify that all details are correct and accept declaration.
How to apply
Fill in the form and submit. Note that requested particulars must be correct as at time of importation/exportation of monetary instruments (cash, etc.).
